Recycling or Trash?
Hi Treeps,
It’s Waste Reduction Week, and we explored the benefits composting at home, reducing waste, and recycling.
However, it can sometimes be confusing and surprising to know what’s recyclable or not!
We asked our friend and waste expert, Nathan Bock, to share what goes in the black, blue, or green bins and why it’s important when reducing waste.
Let’s hear from Nate:
Some of these items can go in black bins and are considered garbage:
- Plastic shopping bags
- Some snack bags
- Dirty pizza boxes
Some of these can go in blue bins and are recyclable:
- Glass bottles
- Aluminum cans
- Plastic containers (remember to pour any remaining water for your plants!)
Some of these can go in green bins and are considered green waste or even compostable:
- Fruit or vegetable scraps
- Plant clippings
