Four Ways to Involve Your Company with TreePeople’s Teams for Trees Program

By Christyne Imhoff

When the coronavirus hit, TreePeople had to stop our beloved volunteer events, including our private events for corporate groups. Until we understood more and could safely ensure the well-being of staff and participants, TreePeople took a pause to learn and adjust. Now, with the beginning of planting season again, TreePeople is excited to restart our Teams for Trees program, and include some new options — all while following specific COVID guidelines, including having everyone wear masks at all times, keep socially distanced, and ensure tools are clean.

Here are four ways to engage your employees:

Get Your Hands Dirty!

Miss seeing your company team mates or tired of being cooped up indoors? Our private corporate events provide the perfect opportunity to safely work outside either planting and caring for urban neighborhood trees, restoring our local mountains impacted by fire, or even helping to beautify our headquarters at Coldwater Canyon Park. Getting outdoors is a great way to see and spend time with your workmates, help give back, and breathe some fresh air!

Participate in a Tree Adoption

Working with the City of Los Angeles, TreePeople is helping to bring much needed shade trees to communities throughout the region by hosting tree adoptions. Your team is invited to join us to help in our safe distribution efforts held at predetermined locations. If the site is appropriate, companies can even consider hosting an event.

Virtual Lunch and Learn

Spending more time at home has encouraged people to learn and dive into do-it-yourself projects. TreePeople is happy to help! By providing online Lunch and Learn sessions we can help your employees grow their environmental literacy and DIY knowledge through a variety of topics including How to Compost, How to Plant a Native Plant Garden, Waste Reduction 101, Oaks of the Santa Monica Mountains, and more!

Virtual In-the-Field with TreePeople

Need to break up an all-day virtual meeting and infuse a little fun? Host an in-the-field virtual session to bring the work of TreePeople to your team. While in the field our staff can chat with your employees as they share about native plants, trees, green infrastructure, mountain restoration, and the work of TreePeople.

These are all ways to get your employees reconnected through the outdoors. TreePeople has required donations for participation. For more information about how you can involve your company, visit our Teams For Trees webpage.
